Happy Athiests' Day

Psalm 14:1 "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" (NIV)

Today was April 1st, the day where it's always fun to play a little joke on someone. April Fools jokes come in all varieties, from the simple to the elaborate, mundane to ridiculous. The best make you think they are real, but are painfully obvious once you look again and realize they aren't. There's always some good stuff floating around the Internet today. Below are some links on some of the good ones I have found.

Google never disappoints. This year they have brought out CADIE, the artificial intelligence that perhaps is learning a bit too much from the Internet...
She's even helping out with your email.

This guy got me good. Though, to be fair, it was still March 31 in my time zone when I read it...

Impossible physics, anyone?

Qualcomm genetic engineering for better wireless coverage.

Slashdot (a techie news site where can comment on the articles) always drums up a bunch of jokes. Here are some of the linked sites from today:

Microsoft wants in on some of that Rock Band success with Alpine Legend.

It seems that some institutions just can't resist the pressure of technology:

Introduction and a look back

It's been a while since I wrote a real blog post. I posted on Xanga for a while off and on a couple years back. But I guess with the advent of Facebook, almost all of my friends no longer post there. Now that I have thoroughly become entrenched in Google's web apps, Blogger seems like a good place to start up another blog or two. I actually started up a couple of blogs on here about a year ago, but never got around to really post anything on them. Maybe I can do better with that.

This is, of course, one of the blogs I am referencing above. The other is a blog I designated for a topic which has become increasingly interesting to me: photography. I wrote one post about a year ago there, but hope to write some more about everything I have learned over the last few years of dabbling in photography.

As for this blog, topics will include anything and everything. From politics to technology to religion to the random things in my life (I'll try not to be too boring). I have a few posts in mind so far for whenever I get a chance to put them down. For now, it being still early January, I thought I would look back on last year, 2008, as part of my introduction. So many things have happened. I will give an overview here, and hopefully get a chance to expound on several of the topics in later posts, both here and on my photography blog.

2008 was quite an interesting year, producing several changes and providing many new experiences. It was a year of growth for me--professionally, spiritually, personally. There are many things that stick out in my mind. I saw four couples from among my good friends get married. For two of those weddings, I was the official photographer! I saw my little sister get engaged to be married (craziness). And I started courting a young lady whom I met in the middle of the year (even more craziness). In church, we concluded "the Walk," our mid-week contemporary worship service, at the beginning of the summer. We then started up small group Bible studies that met in homes for a couple of months, one of which I helped teach. And now we are focusing more on Sunday mornings with our LIFE groups. Personally, I have grown in my faith and shored up some uncertainties with which I had been struggling. I have grown in my understanding of manhood and what it means to be a man. At work, I have continued to contribute significantly to several projects, finishing up one project (though still waiting for it to launch) and starting up a couple more.

Looking back, 2008 was a great year. As I look ahead to 2009, I watch expectantly and excitedly, awaiting what the Lord will bring in this coming year.
